A SUPERIOR SUPPRESSION TECHNOLOGY LIMITS THE CONSEQUENCES
Fogmaker takes safety seriously. Fogmaker fire suppression system with high pressure water mist is a superior suppression technology in an engine or enclosed compartment, limiting the consequences of a bus fire.
The piston accumulator is the base of the Fogmaker system. and should have a working pressure of 100-105 bar at 20 degrees C.
Different risks may be identified on different buses. The Fogmaker system may be installed to protect A/C components on the roof or pneumatic components in the front.
The distribution system consists of distribution hoses, pipes, fittings, and spray nozzles. The system distributes the suppression liquid from the piston accumulator out into the fire-protected area.

Mini fire suppression system – a separate system that may be installed in volumes smaller than 0.8m3, in this case a pre-heater.
The detector bottle is the base for the detection system and the pressurized detection tube. This bottle is checked with every annual inspection to ensure correct pressure and functionality.
Fire and fault alarm signals – a constant alarm signal equals fire! An alarm signal every 60 seconds equals a fault alarm, it could be a sign of a broken cable, faulty pressure switch/signal module, leakage/low pressure etc.

High-pressure water mist has an outstanding choking and cooling effect. The system is always active – no power supply is needed for activation or system monitoring. Fogmaker chokes the fire quickly, yet has a longer emptying time than many competing systems – which is critical to prevent reignition and downtime. This also buys valuable time for evacuation.
A SMALL BUT IMPORTANT INVESTMENT
The investment in an efficient high-pressure water mist system will only be a miniscule part of the total investment when procuring new buses. In case of a fire, the effectiveness of the system limits the damage and helps keep repair costs down.
Throughout the world, organizations have found automated fire suppression systems in the engine room an important fire safety measure. Furthermore, some insurance companies and bus operators require fire suppression systems, and the demand is rising, in part due to new legislation according to UN ECE R107.
About 50 European countries have signed this legislation, and countries outside Europe seem to follow. In practice, R107 means that every new bus that exceeds 22 passengers must have an OEM homologated fire suppression system in the vehicle.

Fogmaker is approved in accordance with the latest international standard for fire suppression systems in buses. Fogmaker became the first manufacturer to implement the official tests with successful results in October 2016. Fogmaker also made the first fire suppression system available with the type approval – UNECE Regulation No.107 Cert. No. 06001 (2017-01-18).
Fire testing procedure follows four tests from SP method 4912.

Legislation towards improved fire safety in buses and coaches in Europe (47 contracting parties applying).
Fixed installed FSS (Fire suppression system) will be a part of the bus manufacturer´s vehicle approval.
The requirement of installation of FSS applies to the vehicle.
FSS systems can be approved as a “component” by test in a defined test rig or installed in a specific engine compartment.
R107 covers the following vehicles exceeding 22 passengers:
Class I (standing passengers)
Class II (seated and standing passengers, like city buses)
Class III (seated passengers, like coaches)
